De La Bat School for the Deaf

We visited the De La Bat School for the Deaf in Worcester and had a wonderful meeting with the Principal, Hilda Louw, and the two audiologists.  It is a lovely school for 236 deaf learners, well run and an essential for underprivileged learners who would otherwise have no access to education.  As little as 3 years old they stay in the hostels for the school.

It is fantastic that we have been able to raise the funds for the priority children to receive new hearing aids this year, thanks to the SLH Foundation.  We have also now been promised 154 second hand hearing aids which can be reprogrammed and fitted to the many other children who have been unable to afford them.  These are coming from The 3 Musketeers Foundation in Australia, thanks to Dr Maria O’Shea.
